NZR Heisler         
Heisler at Ongarue on an unknown day in May 1964, Agfa print by J. A. T. Terry, Chuck Zeiler collection. On the back of the print is written: 'Bush locomotive shunting yard at Ongarue May 1964. Engine is NZ built Heisler.' Researching Heisler locomotives in New Zealand produced the following: Heisler 1082. Made 1904. 1905-1945 = Mokai : Taupo Totara Timber Co. 1945-1966 = Ongarue: Ellis and Burnand Presently stored awaitng restoration at the Bush Tramway Club, Pukemiro, North Island. This Heisler is the most complete example left in New Zealand and is quite restoreable, given an injection of funds. http//:www.bushtramwayclub.com
