Amtrak Baggage 1176 at Polk Street in Chicago, Illinois on October 13, 1987, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. PLEASE SEE COMMENT BELOW. According to the book, Amtrak By The Numbers, number 1176 was built by Pullman-Standard in 1956 as NP 202, converted to HEP in February 1982, sold in January 2003.

Ted Brumberg General Mike Palmieri lists this car as the ex-#205, not the #202. This was 1 of 3 ex-NP baggage cars which Amtrak received in 1981 from BN in the trade for ex-GN full dome lounge #1390 GLACIER VIEW. The other 2 were the #201 (to #1175) and #215 (to #1177). The #1176 was wrecked in August 2001 on the westbound #21 TEXAS EAGLE at Annapolis, MO, and was subsequently stored until sold in January 2003. 2/17/2015 10:42:34 PM
