The northeast and northwest walls of the old C&NW depot at Manitowoc, WI on 20 Aug. '14. The depot was built by the MLS&W and dates to at least 1883. Some references suggest it could be the original depot built around the time the railroad was incorporated in 1872. C&NW built a new depot about a mile to the west in 1945, but that one no longer exists. A couple of awkward additions were constructed on this one after the railroad stopped using it. It is/was used by Holiday House of Manitowoc County, Inc. They have a newer facility, so I’m not sure if they still use this building or not. The currently CN tracks are on the right. |
