Palmetto  Contributor's Pick!
The Palmetto had an early departure from New York, putting it in the DC area mid day. Here we see it in a panoramic view of the Alexandriia rail scene, passing the station that served, at one time, Southern. RF&P and C&O. Their freight traffic passed on the outside tracks, which it still does, though now NS and CSX. To the right, the newly built(at the time) Washington Metros King St station is in service.
