DMIR 2-8-8-4 #227 - Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range  Contributor's Pick!       
Here is another view of the massive articulated Yellowstone type locomotive built by Baldwin LocomotiveWorks in 1941 ready to pull a string of ore cars. Note on the back of the photo states that this loco was on the roster in January, 1961. Specifics - 63" drivers, 240 psi boiler pressure, four 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 695,040 lb, massive tractive effort of 140,093 lb. Photo from the Colin Menzies III collection.
