CBQ 2-8-2 #4960 - Chicago, Burlington & Quincy  Contributor's Pick!
Another nice example of a 1923 Baldwin built Mikado. Note the fireman standing on the tender platform to the far right checking out the coal load. Not much information came with this slide other than the photographer's name, Glenn N. Pizer. From the double decker commuter cars in the background, I am guessing Chicago as the location but with Bob Campbell's help (see comment below), I now know it's Aurora, IL. Specifics - class O-1A, 64" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 316,780, tractive effort of 58,092 lb. Thankfully, this locomotive is now part of the Grand Canyon Railway. The date is an arbitrary one. Glenn N. Pizer photo
