Ex-Erie Lackawanna? Anyone know? Everytime I pass through Deming I hope to see this train, THE WEST LOCAL. Every time I've seen it this train this rarity has been on it.

Virgil Fitzpatrick General As it was explained to me, EL ordered these as SDP45's but never used the optional space. They wanted the larger fuel tanks that the SDP's were equipped with. INDEED this IS an Ex-EL SDP45 Rebuild 10/14/2007 3:14:59 PM
Dave Abeles General This was originally EL 3662, then CR 6693; Frame # 7246-9. Technically SD45M's, with the ASP45 carbody, but as Virgil said that extra frame length allowed a larger fuel tank to allow EL to run trains from Croxton, NJ to Chicago without refueling. 12/19/2007 12:34:49 PM
