Beautiful action shot of a 1903 Alco-Brooks 4-6-0 highballing past the Ceylon, OH depot. Unfortunately, the number is unreadable. The photographer, H.S. Ludlow, wrote an interesting description of the scene on the back of the photo - "Lake Shore & Mich. Southern 10 wheeler passing Ceylon, O. station in 1895. Note left hand operation - manually operated rack & pinion semaphore signal, oil headlight, wood coaches. Built by Brooks Lcoo. Man on Platform believed to be Michael Keahe - day operator-agent, his borther Patrick was on duty nights. HSL" No exact date given in 1895 and due to the data base restriction in RR Picture Archives, it is listed as 1900. |
