C&WI was a terminal road that was owned by the various railroads that used Dearborn St station-Erie, later EL; Santa Fe, Monon, GTW, C&EI, and I think one or two others. Their line ran down to Hammond, where it met end to end with the Erie, who used it to reach their Chicago yard at 51st Street. They also had their own commuter train, which ran out to Dolton. Dearborn Station was closed in 1978 after the last commuter train was moved to Union Station, a run out to Orland Park on the ex Wabash. The station area has been redeveloped. I'm not sure if C&WI still exists on paper.
