An Amtrak special passes Mission Tower as it crosses the Los Angeles River on its way out of Los Angeles Union Station on July 15th, 1993. F40PHs 376 and 281 are pulling, just behind the baggage car, a Swedish X2000 (also known as X2) trainset, which was touring the country. These trains, constructed by Kalmar Verkstad in Kalmar, Sweden, operated on Swedens Statens Järnvägar (Swedish State Railways), feature tilting technology for high speed operation. This train was headed to Phoenix, Arizona, for another day of display. |
