Good Day. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 25 July 1960. Shown here (F to R) are PRR engines #9581, #9589-B, and #9706. All were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and are rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9581 and 9589-B are BF-15's built in 1949, but #9706 is a BF-15A built in 1950. They are pulling a long string of gondola cars out of the Yard on their way up the New Portage Branch Line to Gallitzin and points West. This photo was taken from the old Union Street Bridge, facing East toward the Samuel Rea Shop. South Juniata Street is visible on the left; a string of vintage gondolas (consigned to maintenance-or-way service) sit next to the moving train; the Madden Boiler Works are on the right in the middle distance. #7 of 12. |
