Yard Work. Here is an original photo that I took of Penn Central Railroad yard operations in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, in August of 1972. Shown here is PC engine #9020, an SW-1200 built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division in 1957 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. It is shifting a gondola car at the eastern end of the Westbound Hump at the base of Bald Hill, next to US Route 22. In the days of the Pennsylvania Railroad, this engine was numbered "7920"; builder's number: 24152. |
