Slope to Works. H ere is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here (F to R) are PRR engines #6011 and #6010. Both are EF-25A's built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. They are pulling a westbound ore train which is passing under the 12th Street Bridge. This train will surmount the Allegheny Mountains ~ visible in the distance ~ on its way to the steel mills of Pittsburgh. Note the two coal trains on the left, then the westbound freight on the right, and a single passenger-helper locomotive a bit further over. |
