NS 11V  Contributor's Pick!
At 3:13pm on Friday July 15, 2016, westbound mixed freight train 11V struggled up the mountain rounding Horseshoe Curve. The trailing unit, NS #9789 (C40-9W) crapped out shortly leaving Altoona, leaving leading engine NS #8436 (C40-8W) as the sole head end power. Despite having a helper set on the rear, NS #6322 (SD40E) and NS #6323 (SD40E), the train maxxed out at 8mph climbing the hill. It took the train 10 minutes to round the curve. Apparently, it made it to Bennington Curve and stalled. It was a huge train!
