Miscellanea. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Philip R. Hastings that was taken in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on 2 December 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6760, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata as an M-1A during July of 1930, rebuilt as an M-1B in May of 1948, and retired in September of 1959 after 29 years of faithful service. It's pulling a mixed-cargo freight train out of the Williamsport Yards. Note the "doghouse" on the coast-to-coast tender. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Steam on the Pennsy's Elmira and Shamokin Branches" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (785-1). |
