At 9:00 Southern Railway FP7's 6141 and 6133 were pulling out of New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal with a 10-car students' excursion. The railroad ran these trips to introduce students - and frequently their parents and teachers - to train travel and railroading. These were short one-way trips, with passengers getting on and off all along the way, and the riders returning to their point of origin on buses. The first two cars were former Central of Georgia 664 FORT OGLETHORPE and 663 FORT McPHERSON. |
