Louisville & Nashville K-5 class Pacific 282 was leading Number 7 along the Mississippi River at New Orleans, just a block away from the train's destination at the Canal Street Station. The tracks on the left of the train belonged to the Southern Pacific, while most of those on the other side were owned by the New Orleans Public Belt. The grade crossing under the fourth car was Conti Street and the transit shed in the center of the image was on the Bienville Street Wharf. The tall buildings in the left background, including the new construction, were the Jax Brewery. (approximate month and day) |
