A quartet of E-units were waiting to couple on to an 18-car PANAMA LIMITED at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. Notice the carman squatting down between the engines and the train. The locomotives were Amtrak E8A's 203 and 205 (both ex-B&O), Illinois Central Gulf E9A 4034 in Amtrak colors, and Amtrak (ex-UP) E9B 468; while the train was made up of baggage car 1102, sleepers 2012 GULL and 2152 SILVER HYACINTH, dome-sleeper 9211, diner 8026, bar-lounge 3353, coaches 5473, 4509, 4520, 5404 and 5233, lunch counter-diner 8102, and coaches 5457, 4441, 5649, 4467, 6058 and 5452. The purple discoloration next to the 203 came with the slide :) |
