| Here is another photo scanned directly from the original negative of Illinois Central 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotive built by Alco-Schenectday in 1923. No date or location were given but with Mary Rae McPherson's help, I now believe it's Chicago, IL, possibly 27th Street and in 1923 since the loco looks brand new. Specs - class 2400, builder #64580, 73.5" drivers, impressive 225 psi boiler pressure, 24x28" cylinders, engine wt 362,500 lb, tractive effort of 57,120 lb. Unknown photographer. |
