FM. Here is a duplicate 35mm B&W slide of a photo by Fred McLeod that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1948. Photo Caption: "2-10-0 and 4-8-2 pushers hard at work at top of Horseshoe Curve. Summer, 1948." Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4353 and a "Mountain" class engine whose number is not recorded. #4353 is an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during December of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in April of 1943, and retired in June of 1953 after 31 years of faithful service. This photo comes from a B&W slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa.
