The "new" sort and holding yard being created by BNSF west of Vancouver Center and 'down the hill' (accessed by the new proverbial 'tunnel' (track below the existing Columbia River train bridge)) at the Port of Vancouver near the reversing loop. The longer sort tracks are supposed to help with holding strings of longer cars (although the loop itself (directly behind the photographer on the other side of the auto-bridge) seems to hold easily more than a mile of rolling stock/unit train strings without feeling full). To the right of the frame is Subaru USA where giant guppy ships disgorge hundreds (thousands?) of cars and trucks at a time. The northern aspect of downtown Vancouver is in the distance with the 'iconic round' building top barely visible to the right rear of the frame. |
