Former RDG 5513 has the distinction of being the first production GP30 from EMD, one of twenty that the Reading Company would acquire for freight service over their mainlines in 1962. The first of the second generation units in RDG freight operations, the locomotive and its sisters were also the first to wear the paint scheme currently presented on this unit, as well as a few others around the museum property. Also take note of the cylindrical radio antenna on the roof above the conductor's seat, a known Reading Company feature. |
