According to Critter Dinkys and Centercabs there was never any such thing as a Phase IA 44-tonner. According to the description on p59 of that publication, this would be a Ph II-A3.

My reference for writing that caption was the detailed GE 44 tonner roster and study done in X2200S issues 51 and 52. According to that roster, a total of six Phase Ia 44 tonners were built: CB&Q 9103, MILW 1690, GN 5200 and 5201, AVI 92 and 93, and ME 44.

Thanks Michael. I didn't know that there was any other system than Jay Reed's (which is unofficial, of course). Thanks for the info! X2200 South was a bit before my 'time' in terms of my railroad interest becoming serious, so I don't have access to it. Cheers.
