| The loco with "nine lives" is serving as the head end power of the Chessie Safety Special as caught by an unidentified photographer. The loco, built by Lima in June of 1948 also served as a test loco for the Americal Coal Enterprise experiments in developing new coal burning technologies. Today it is a static display at the C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge, VA, while awaiting restoration. |
