FM. Here is a duplicate 35mm B&W slide of a photo by Fred McLeod that was taken near Altoona, Pennsylvania. Photo Caption: "29-car express train hauled by a T-1 and a J-1 about four miles below the Horseshoe Curve. November 1, 1949." Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6443 and a "Duplex" whose road number is not recorded. #6443 is a J-1 (2-10-0) "Texas" built in Juniata during November of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. This photo comes from a slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (22-57). |
