Impressive monster built by Alco-Richmond in 1917 sits quietly in an unidentified yard. Originally it carried the number 765 but was later renumbered to 1366. Specs - serial #54596, H-4 class, 56.5" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x32" high pressure cylinders, 35x32" low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 425,000 lb, tractive effort of 67,104 lb. No location, date or photographer listed for the photo. Since these behemoths were used for long coal drags, the location could be most likely West Virginia or Kentucky. |
