Südostbahn operates the VAE - Voralpen Express (Pre Alpine Express) between the cities St.Gallen and Lucerne. This new EMU's are replacing the loco hauled trains. The Class 526 "silver" 4-car EMU are for local services, the "copper" 8-car EMU are for regional express and intercity.
