Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 21 April 1962. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5907, a BS-6 switcher built by the Baldwin-Locomotive Works in March of 1942, rated at 660 horsepower, and retired in June of 1964 after 22 years of faithful service. This is one of the very first diesel-electric locomotives ever purchased by the PRR! ("LouisFols"; #10 of 39) |
