| In 1998, Gauley River Ry. purchased three former B&O branches in Webster and Nicholas Cos., WV. These lines had been inactive since 1994. Four locomotives were acquired, but they never saw service on the lines, because the railroad was unable to reach agreements with local shippers. Although permission to abandon was initially denied (STB Dec. 6/16/1999), it was granted a few months later. |
