Amtrak depot area
A damaged street lamp is indicative of Amtrak service across the Florida panhandle. The "Sunset Limited" once plied these tracks until Hurricane Katrina caused much track damage in the New Oreans area. While the damaged trackage in Mississippi and Louisiana have been repaired and the freight trains are rolling, Amtrak service is yet to return and there is no indication it ever will. Many tax dollars were used to build the depot, install street lamps, and build up the platform area only to have the effort seemingly go for naught.
