Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Situated in the very center is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6733, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an M-1A during May of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in May of 1944, and retired in September of 1959 after 29 years of faithful service. The road numbers of the other locomotives pictured here are not recorded. |
