Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken just West of the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3751, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during April of 1920 and retired in November of 1957 after 37 years of faithful service. Note that its bell and main driving rods have been removed in preparation for movement to the Recycling Center. Partially visible at the far right is the Tipple proper. (#7,800) |
