Former Southern Railway sleeping car 2470 GLACIER was at its home for many decades, the Louisiana Railway Heritage Trust. GLACIER is a Plan 3410 12-section/1-drawing-room car which had been placed in service by Pullman on 13 May 1924, was air conditioned on 16 March 1936, transferred to the Southern on 31 December 1948 and withdrawn from Pullman lease on 8 March 1965. The car had at least one subsequent owner before moving to the New Orleans area. It was painted dark green for most of its life, but it wore Tennessee Central red from February 1947 until April 1951. |
