PRR 1361, K-4S, 1957
Here is an image that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 8 June 1957. The occasion is the dedication ceremony for the Pennsylvania Railroad's engine #1361, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during May of 1918 and retired in September of 1956 after amassing over 2,469,000 miles of faithful service. Note the locomotive bell that's affixed to the speaker's platform. The names of the photographer and of the dignitaries pictured here are not recorded.
