This photo taken by Arthur B. Johnson appears to have captured CN #4322 sitting in a storage line in the Transcona yard. Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in July of 1930, this 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive with its small drivers but large tractive effort would have been an ideal fit for long drags of freight. This powerful loco met its final date with the scrapper's torch on April of 1959. Specs - serial #1882, class T-4-b, 57" drivers, impressive 275 psi boiler pressure, 24x28" cylinders, engine weight of 347,600 lb, decent tractive effort of 66,139 lb. Arthur B Johnson photo |
