Originally Atlanta and West Point 44 seat diner #501, one of eleven 44 seat diners built in 1949 by Budd in Lot #9624-030* for the Crescent. Ownership was eight SOU #3305-#3312, one CNO&TP #3869, one A&WP #501, and one L&N #2790. Sold to Amtrak 1971 and renumbered 8026. A planned conversion to HEP #8529 was cancelled, converted in 1985 to Auto Train HEP #8750 instead. Stored in 1996 and sold in 2002 to Rail Quest America (RQAX) #8750 for MRRT, reconfigured to diner lounge, and named Yellowstone Park (2nd). Leased 2005-2009* to Alaska RR as #323. Ran on Montana Daylight Dinner Train then sold to IFE Leasing (Phillip Sheridan) and leased as MRLX #8750. More recently used on Christmas train at Crab Orchard Railway at Marion, IL and then with St. Louis Union Station Excursion Trains for Marriott. The car also carried GTLX (Great Lakes Railcar) reporting marks. Sold to Reading and Northern November 2021 & renumbered 1167. |
