The M1 4-8-2's were regarded with the highest esteem in all echelons of the old PRR." Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6779 and #6762. Both are "M" Class (4-8-2) "Mountains." #6779 is an M-1B built by the Lima Locomotive Works as an M-1A during March of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in December of 1948, and retired in September of 1959. #6762 is an M-1B constructed in Juniata as an M-1A during July of 1930, rebuilt as an M-1B in April of 1946, and retired in September of 1959.
