WB. Here is an image of an official photo that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 March 1947. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad's engine #422, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during July of 1917 and scrapped in April of 1947 after 30 years of faithful service. In this context, it awaits scrapping while parked in the storage yard at the PRR's Erecting & Machine Shop in Juniata. Note the cracked "422" keystone on the smokebox. William E. Burket Collection. |
