Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9573, a BF-15 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in March of 1949, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in December of 1963 after just 14 years of revenue service. In this context, it's heading a mixed-cargo freight train around the Horseshoe Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. |
