Here is a photo via Paul W. Prescott that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 August 1935. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6703 and #4359. Both were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #6703 is an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" constructed in March of 1930 and retired in September of 1952. #4359 is an I-1S built in January of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in April of 1944, and retired in March of 1950. In this context, they're pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where #6703 will be uncoupled and returned to Altoona for another assignment.
