Photo Caption: "This picture, looking westbound, was taken about 1921. Locomotives were serviced at Kittanning Point just prior to traversing the Curve or descending the 'hill' to Altoona from about 1900 or earlier. Here are the servicing facilities ~ water tower, coal trestle, etc. Note that the standpipes are mounted on the bridge below the semaphores. It is over this bridge that small coal cars carried coal to the tenders." |
