Although not the B&O's first choice of loco to order, the War Production Board restricted diesel orders so these 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone steam locomotives were the only power that B&O could order. Built by Baldwin in June of 1945 as BO #7621 (serial #71503), it proved to be up to the task of handling long drags of coal and freight cars especially in the Cumberland area. The loco was eventually pushed to the side of the roster starting with its renumbered in 1956 to BO #671 and then dropped from the roster completely in 1960.
