| Built by Baldwin in September of 1903 as a compound 2-10-2, ATSF #917 was later rebuilt and simplified in July of 1918 at La Junta Shops. The loco continued on in serivce until being finally sold for scrap to the M. S. Kaplan Company on 1/4/1956. Rebuilt specs - 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 28x32" cylinders, engine wt of 317,400 lb, tractive effort of 74,800 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo |
