After Republic Steel in Troy, NY, closed, their 65-tonner would go to the D&H's Colonie shops (seen here between an unidentified D&H RS-3 and another loco). A book containing the serial numbers and dispostions of all Whitcomb-build locomotives says this engine became the property of the NRHS Mohawk & Hudson chapter, but its fate beyond that is unknown. It might have been one of the first NRHS M&H relics scrapped at Colonie or Glenmont. Ralph L. Phillips photo, from the Ralph L. Phillips collection of the Bay State Model Railroad Museum. |
