It's a humid but relatively cool 73° morning in May as L134; the Richmond to Fredericksburg road switcher passes through Ashland, VA heading north. A mother and her young son can be seen waving from the other side, a cool thing about this town, most everyone is used to and enjoys the frequent train action. The power for today's train is a former B&O GP40-2 with cab signals which are required for a locomotive to lead on the RF&P. Trailing is an ex-Conrail GP38-2; CSXT 2795 and just under 20 cars for interchange to the Buckingham Branch Railroad as well as other customers up the line. |
