Here is page one of an eight-page cover article by David P. Morgan & Al Kamm, Jr., entitled "Those Esthetic E's: A Story Of The Power That Bumped Steam Off The Varnish." It was published originally in the May 1964 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 20. Partially visible in the center is EMDX 765, an E-7 built by GM-EMD in April of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. It powered GM-EMD's "Train Of Tomorrow" around the country for 28 months before being acquired by the Union Pacific Railroad. |
