This little yard switcher, MILW 0-6-0 #1424, was caught sitting and steaming in the Milwaukee Yard on a cold March day. Built by the Milwaukee Road Shops between 1903-13 in a class I5a of over 160 locos, it served well. Some of the class even lasted until 1955 after nearly 52 years of service. The original number was changed in 1938 to one in the 1400 series. Original specs - class I5-a, 51" drivers, 19x26" cylinders, 180 psi boiler pressure. This is an Edwin Wilson photo. |
