DMIR 2-10-2 #508 - Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range         
This is a sad photo of once powerful DMIR 2-10-2 #508 and its sisters all sitting in the scrap line at the Proctor, MN after being sold for scrap in 1959, This powerful locomotive was built by Alco-Brooks in January of 1919 as Duluth, Missabee & Northern 2-10-2 #508 but was absorbed into the DMIR roster in 1938 as DMIR #508. The loco lasted in heavy service in long ore drags for nearly 40 years until being sold for scrap in 1959. Original specs - E-1 class, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine wt of 352,000 lb and tractive effort of 69,600 lb. This photo was taken by Burdell Bulgrin of Owen, WI.yard.
