Prevosto. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Modena, Pennsylvania, on 18 May 1952. Shown here (L to R) are Long Island Rail Road engines #348 and #352. Both are DD-1 (2-B+B-2) electrics built in Juniata for the Pennsylvania Railroad and rated at 3,160 horsepower each. Both units of #348 were constructed in July of 1910 and sold to the LIRR in February of 1928; PRR "3954" became #348-A, while PRR "3955" became #348-B. Both units of #352 were constructed in July of 1910 and sold to the LIRR in May of 1928; PRR "3974" became #352-A, while PRR "3989" became #352-B. Note that their main driving rods have been removed in preparation for scrapping. |
