UP 6706 had already passed Nelson, so we knew we had to stay east of Dixon if we wanted to shoot it. We decided to move into Franklin Grove to see if we could catch UP 1111 again, but it ended up stopping east of town. We moved to the east side of town to find some nice open crossings, but there was nothing that either of us were too interested in. UP MNPPR was in front of MMTPR which had UP 6706 leading, so we set up for MMPPR at the intermediates just west of Franklin Grove. NS engines were up front, in the middle, and on the rear of this massive manifest as it slowly bobbed through the small rolling hills on the Geneva Subdivision. |
